The golf season doesn't officially get underway for a lot of bettors until the Masters in April. The first major of the PGA season is by far the most popular event of the entire Tour schedule and brings the biggest and best in the sport to famed August National in Georgia each spring. The Masters betting odds also bring out the best in books and bettors.
The Masters is one of the few sports events in which odds to win are available almost all year round. The futures market to win the Masters is the most popular option for those betting on the first major of the year. Oddsmakers set a price or moneyline for each player in the field, keeping the favorites at smaller odds while offering some larger payouts on players outside of the Top 10.
Some of the more popular variations of Masters betting odds are the matchups, in which oddsmakers set two players against each other, with different odds valued for each. Bettors can wager on which golfer will finish with the better score for that round or the entire tournament. Some sportsbooks offer grouping by nationality as well, such as top European player or top American.
Because the Masters is the biggest tournament of the year, oddsmakers often meet that demand with more golf betting propositions than any other event. You can find Over/Under odds on round-by-round scoring, number of birdies and even total number of putts for the tournament. There's certainly a lot of green to be won when the Green Jacket is up for grabs.
